MOONEY FLIGHT TRAINING AND CHECKOUTS

YOUR PLANE OR OURS
We can provide Mooney training in our higly modified Mooney M20F or in your particular model.  There are very few Mooney training facilities that have their own Mooney aircraft.  Our Mooney is a fully instrument equipped aircraft and training is geared to qualifying you to handle the characteristics of a high performance aircraft.

We specialize in:

Landing Techniques

Pattern Airspeed Control

Emergency Landings in high speed aircraft

Emergency Proceedures

This training can also qualify you for a Biennual Flight Review or Instrument Competency Check.

Patrick O'Donell of London, England, recently completed our advance Mooney training.  He spent over twelve hours in cross country training, emergency procedures, speed control (he says he does not need speed brakes now) and instrument competency.

1.     Why are Mooney aircraft so different to fly?

Mooney aircraft are designed for speed.  When you attempt to make an airplane a fast cross country airplane you give up low speed control.  It is not the speed that get's you into trouble, it is the handling of the aircraft during the take off and the approach to landing.  In the M20 models and the 201 they use a 200 horsepower engine to get you off the ground and make the approach.  Under heavy load conditions you have to delicately fly these planes and they will get behind the handling characteristics very quickly.  This is what we focus on in our training.

2.       What kind of instrument platforms are the Mooney aircraft?

They are excellent  but because of the above handling characterictics they require "finesse".  During the training I continually use this word as they are very responsive in the handling due to the control engineering.

3.        What makes you different from other Mooney instructors?

I own my planes.  I fly my planes.  I teach to keep people safe and to maximize the aircraft.  I teach for fun, and I want you to learn what I know about Mooney aircraft.
